SimSimi Inc.(이하 “운영자”)은 연구 참여용 서비스 SensorBrain(Android·iOS 앱과 웹 대시보드, 이하 “서비스”)을 운영하며, 「개인정보 보호법」 등 관련 법령에 따라 정보주체의 개인정보를 보호하고 관련 고충을 신속하게 처리하기 위하여 다음과 같이 개인정보 처리방침을 수립·공개합니다.
1. 개인정보의 처리 목적
운영자는 다음 목적을 위해서만 개인정보를 처리하며, 목적이 바뀌는 경우 별도 동의를 받는 등 필요한 조치를 합니다.
- 연구 참여자 식별과 로그인(연구팀이 발급한 계정)
- 연구 계획에 따른 데이터 수집: 설문·연구 활동 응답, 스마트폰 센서 데이터, 건강 데이터
- 연구 활동 알림(푸시 알림) 발송
- 서비스의 정상 동작 확인과 오류 대응
개인정보를 광고나 마케팅에 이용하지 않으며, 판매하지 않습니다.
2. 처리하는 개인정보 항목과 수집 방법
앱은 연구팀이 해당 연구에 설정한 항목만 수집하며, 위치·건강·알림·마이크 등 기기 권한이 필요한 항목은 정보주체가 허용한 경우에만 수집합니다.

건강 데이터 등 일부 항목은 「개인정보 보호법」상 민감정보에 해당할 수 있으며, 운영자는 연구 참여 동의 절차에서 이에 대한 별도 동의를 받은 경우에만 처리합니다.
3. 처리 및 보유 기간
- 서버: 연구 동의서에서 정한 보유 기간 동안 보유하며, 연구 동의서에 근거하여 정보주체가 동의를 철회하더라도 삭제하지 않습니다. 보유 기간이 끝나면 연구 기관에 통지하고, 연구 기관의 요청에 따라 파기합니다. 관계 법령에 따라 보존해야 하는 경우에는 해당 기간 동안 보관합니다.
- 기기(앱): 수집한 데이터는 서버로 전송하기 전까지 앱 전용 저장 공간에 임시로 보관합니다. Android 앱은 전송된 데이터를 전송 직후 기기에서 삭제하고, 네트워크 문제 등으로 전송하지 못한 데이터는 수집 후 7일이 지나면 삭제합니다. 로그아웃하면 기기에 저장된 계정 정보를 삭제하며, Android 앱은 아직 전송하지 않은 데이터도 함께 삭제합니다.
- 푸시 알림 전달 사업자(Google, Apple): 알림 전달에 필요한 기간 동안 각 사업자의 정책에 따라 처리됩니다.
4. 개인정보의 제3자 제공
운영자는 정보주체의 동의가 있거나 법률에 특별한 규정이 있는 경우 등 「개인정보 보호법」 제17조·제18조에 해당하는 경우를 제외하고는 개인정보를 제3자에게 제공하지 않습니다. 연구 결과를 발표하는 경우에는 개인을 알아볼 수 없도록 처리한 정보만 이용합니다.
5. 처리 위탁 및 국외 이전
서비스 제공을 위해 다음과 같이 개인정보 처리를 위탁하거나 국외로 이전합니다. 이전은 서비스 이용 중 네트워크를 통해 이루어집니다.

각 사업자의 개인정보 처리 방침: Google, Apple.
정보주체는 기기 설정에서 알림을 끄는 방법으로 푸시 알림 전달을 위한 이전을 거부할 수 있으며, 이 경우 연구 활동 알림을 받을 수 없습니다. 그 밖의 이전은 서비스 제공에 필수적이어서, 거부하려면 연구 참여를 중단해야 합니다.
6. 건강 데이터(Health Connect·Apple 건강) 이용 원칙
- Health Connect와 Apple 건강에서 읽은 데이터는 연구 데이터 수집 목적으로만 이용합니다.
- 광고·마케팅에 이용하지 않고, 판매하지 않으며, 연구 수행과 법령상 의무 외에는 제3자에게 제공하지 않습니다.
- 보험·신용·고용 등 자격 판단에 이용하지 않습니다.
- Android 앱은 Health Connect 데이터를 읽기만 하며, Health Connect에 데이터를 기록하지 않습니다.
- 권한은 기기 설정(Health Connect 또는 건강 앱)에서 언제든지 철회할 수 있으며, 철회해도 건강 데이터를 제외한 연구 참여에는 영향이 없습니다.
7. 정보주체의 권리와 행사 방법
정보주체는 운영자에게 언제든지 개인정보 열람, 정정·삭제, 처리정지, 동의 철회를 요구할 수 있습니다. 요청은 제12항의 개인정보 보호책임자 또는 참여 중인 연구팀에 서면·이메일로 할 수 있으며, 운영자는 지체 없이 조치하고 결과를 알려드립니다. 법정대리인이나 위임을 받은 사람을 통해서도 요청할 수 있습니다.
앱에서는 기기 설정에서 위치·건강·알림·마이크 등 권한을 언제든지 철회할 수 있고, 로그아웃하면 기기에 저장된 계정 정보가 삭제됩니다. 계정과 서버에 저장된 정보의 삭제는 연구팀에 요청하거나 계정·데이터 삭제 안내 페이지 또는 위 방법으로 요청할 수 있으며, 그 페이지에 적힌 기간 안에 삭제됩니다. 연구 데이터의 처리는 연구 계획과 관련 법령이 정한 범위에서 제한될 수 있으며, 이 경우 그 사유를 알려드립니다.
8. 개인정보의 파기
보유 기간이 끝나거나 처리 목적이 달성되면 지체 없이 파기합니다. 전자적 파일은 복구할 수 없는 방법으로 삭제하고, 종이 문서는 분쇄하거나 소각합니다. 관계 법령에 따라 보존해야 하는 정보는 다른 정보와 분리하여 보관합니다.
9. 안전성 확보 조치
- 앱·대시보드와 서버 사이의 전송 구간 암호화(HTTPS)
- 참여자별 계정 인증과 연구팀별 접근 권한 분리, 관리 권한자의 최소화
- 앱 데이터는 앱 전용 저장 공간에 보관하고 다른 앱이 접근하지 못하도록 설정
10. 자동 수집 장치의 설치·운영
웹 대시보드는 로그인 상태를 유지하기 위해 브라우저 저장소(localStorage)를 사용합니다. 광고·행태 추적을 위한 쿠키나 분석 도구는 사용하지 않습니다. 브라우저 설정에서 사이트 데이터를 삭제할 수 있으며, 이 경우 다시 로그인해야 합니다. Android 앱의 동작·오류 정보 수집은 제2항과 제5항에 안내한 대로 Google Firebase를 이용합니다.
11. 아동의 개인정보
만 14세 미만 아동의 개인정보는 법정대리인의 동의를 받은 연구에서만 처리합니다.

14. 처리방침의 변경
이 처리방침을 변경하는 경우 시행 7일 전부터 이 페이지에 변경 내용을 공지하며, 수집 항목이나 이용 목적이 바뀌는 등 중요한 변경은 30일 전부터 공지합니다.
SensorBrain Privacy Policy
SimSimi Inc. (the “Operator”) runs SensorBrain, a research participation service consisting of Android and iOS apps and a web dashboard (the “Service”). This policy explains how personal information is processed. If the Korean and English versions differ, the Korean version prevails.
1. Purposes
- Identifying study participants and signing them in (accounts issued by the research team)
- Collecting study data under the protocol: survey and activity responses, smartphone sensor data, health data
- Sending study reminders (push notifications)
- Checking that the Service works and investigating errors
Personal information is never used for advertising or marketing and is never sold.
2. Information collected
The apps collect only the items the research team enables for a study. Items that need a device permission (location, health, notifications, microphone, etc.) are collected only if you grant it.

Health data and some other items may be sensitive information under Korean law; the Operator processes them only with separate consent obtained during study enrollment.
3. Retention
- Server: kept for the retention period set in the research consent form. Under the research consent form, this data is not deleted even if you withdraw your consent. When the retention period ends, we notify the research institution and destroy the data at the research institution's request, unless the law requires longer retention.
- Device (app): collected data is kept temporarily in the app’s private storage until it is uploaded. The Android app deletes data from the device right after uploading it, and deletes data that could not be uploaded 7 days after it was collected. Signing out deletes the stored account information; the Android app also deletes data not yet uploaded.
- Push providers (Google, Apple): processed for as long as needed to deliver a notification, under their own policies.
4. Disclosure to third parties
Personal information is not provided to third parties except with your consent or where the law specifically allows it. Published research results use only information that cannot identify you.

Provider policies: Google, Apple. You can refuse the transfer for push notifications by turning notifications off in your device settings, in which case you will not receive study reminders. The other transfers are necessary to provide the Service; refusing them means stopping participation.
6. Health data (Health Connect and Apple Health)
- Data read from Health Connect and Apple Health is used only to collect study data.
- It is not used for advertising or marketing, not sold, and not shared with third parties except to conduct the study or meet legal obligations.
- It is not used to determine eligibility for insurance, credit or employment.
- The Android app only reads Health Connect data and never writes to Health Connect.
- You can revoke access at any time in Health Connect or the Health app; this does not affect participation apart from health data.
7. Your rights
You may ask to access, correct, delete or stop processing your personal information, or withdraw consent, at any time by writing to the privacy officer in section 12 or to your research team. A legal representative or authorised person may also make the request. In the app you can revoke location, health, notification and microphone permissions in your device settings, and signing out deletes the account information stored on the device. To delete your account and the data stored on the server, ask your research team or use the account and data deletion page; it is deleted within the period stated there. Processing of study data may be limited to the extent set by the study protocol and the law; you will be told the reason if so.
8. Destruction
When the retention period ends or the purpose has been fulfilled, personal information is destroyed without delay: electronic files are deleted so that they cannot be recovered and paper records are shredded or incinerated.
9. Security
- Encrypted transport (HTTPS) between the apps/dashboard and the server
- Per-participant authentication, access separated by research team, minimal administrator access
- App data stored in the app’s private storage, not accessible to other apps
10. Cookies and similar technologies
The web dashboard uses browser storage (localStorage) to keep you signed in. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies or analytics tools. The Android app uses Google Firebase for app events and crash reports as described in sections 2 and 5.
11. Children
Personal information of children under 14 is processed only in studies with the consent of a legal guardian.
